FINDING PLEASURES IN THE SIMPLE THINGS

Maggi Mee

I love Maggi Mee! For the non-Malaysians, you’re probably wondering, “What in the world is Maggi Mee?” Why, it’s only the most delicious instant noodle in the WHOLE universe 🙂 (Maggi is the brand and Mee means noodle). Alright, I admit that’s a huge exaggeration, having never tried more than a handful of other instant noodles, but truly, once you have tasted Maggi, you would not want to waste your hard-earned money on others. Maggie Mee is like comfort food to me, it consoles me when I feel homesick, cheers me up when I feel down, and satisfies me when I crave for a home-cooked meal (but am too tired or lazy to make one). Even my American hubby who will not touch Ramen noodle with a mile-long pole likes Maggi Mee but yes, he’s not head over heels in love with Maggi Mee like I am – which is good because when there’s only one packet of Maggi Mee left in the house, I don’t share. 🙂 Unfortunately, I can’t get Maggi Mee anywhere in Northeast Ohio, so I buy them from asiansupermarket365.com. If you’ve never tried Maggie Mee before and you happen to come across it in Asian stores, get one and try it…you’ve got nothing to lose other than 50 cents and your taste buds will thank you for it. I guess if you get addicted to it, you could lose more than 50 cents but hey, don’t say I didn’t warn you. 😀

Over the years, so many new flavors of Maggie Mee have been introduced but my favorite are still the classics – Assam Laksa (my ultimate favorite), Curry, and Chicken. You can add whatever your heart desires to the noddle when you prepare it – for instance, shrimp, chicken, or vegetables such as napa, or baby bok choy. Personally, to keep things simple, I eat my Maggi Mee with two eggs, poached in the broth as the noodle cooks. Delicious!
